Breakdown

If you breakdown you can call AXA Assistance to arrange for a breakdown recovery truck to recover your car.
You can specify which garage you would like the car to be taken to. If you don’t specify then the car will be taken to the nearest garage which may be further away from where you live.

The breakdown recovery service is free up to a cost of 153 euros. Above this you are responsible for the cost so if you request that the car is taken to a specific garage you must make sure you know if what the extra cost may be.

The breakdown recovery company will give you a receipt so you have their details. You should make sure you are up to date as to if your car has been taken to the recovery company depot (often if the car is recovered when the garages are closed) or to the garage.

Once your car is in the garage you need to make arrangements with the garage for any repairs, diagnostics etc.
When your car has been recovered then you should call AXA Assistance who will arrange for you and any passengers to get home or continue your journey, depending on your policy. If you have pack mobilité then you will be eligible for a replacement vehicle for 7 days. This is arranged by AXA Assistance.
When your car is ready for collection AXA Assistance will arrange for you to get to the garage to collect the car.

Breaking down on an autoroute

If you breakdown on an autoroute then you need to alert the police who will arrange for a recovery truck.

You need to inform AXA Assistance as soon as possible that you have broken down.

The payment limit for recovery in this case is higher and is set by the Pouvoirs Publics.

You must keep all receipts from the breakdown recovery company etc. in order to claim these expenses back.

Once the car and passengers are off the autoroute then the same applies as above.

If your car is not drivable following an accident
